"Campus on Country" is an innovative and immersive outdoor and environmental education program that partners Stanley River EEC with your whole school to create a dynamic learning community deeply connected to the natural world. Designed for students throughout their primary school journey, this program fosters a profound relationship with Stanley River Environmental Education Centre, which becomes a second campus in their school life. With the guidance of experienced staff, students engage in hands-on activities both within their own school and during an annual excursion to the Centre. Through exploration, inquiry, and connection to the land, students develop a deep understanding and appreciation for the environment, nurturing their sense of stewardship and fostering a lifelong love for nature. "Campus on Country" truly integrates the school community into a vibrant and sustainable partnership with the natural world.

"Campus on Country" is a program that seamlessly aligns with the Australian Curriculum, emphasizing the development of students' personal and social capabilities. In addition, it provides an immersive experience to explore Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Histories and Cultures. Collaborating with school staff, Stanley River staff tailor programs to complement classroom learning, creating a holistic educational approach.
Logistical considerations
The "Campus on Country" program involves careful logistical considerations to ensure a seamless experience. Here are the inclusions for each class:
- 2 pre-visits from a Stanley River Teacher to the school.
- 1 excursion to Stanley River Environmental Education Centre.
- 1 post-visit from a Stanley River Teacher to the school.
Additionally, the program offers a dedicated 1-day incursion or excursion aimed at year 5 & 6 students, focusing on leadership development.
